My favorite time of the winter is when Brad posts pictures of his seedlings, and of the vendors seedlings. Amazing work is being done out there! Hurray! I tip my hat to you. Drooling

Yes, now that winter is setting in, maybe he will start posting them. I can't wait. My seedlings last year were a bust, the rabbits chewed them down to the rhizomes so only a few bloomed. To top that off, my computer being destroyed by lightning made me loose all of the pictures of the few that did bloom. Angry I put a fence around them this fall so I'm hoping that I get a good bloom next year. They have to, I'm needing to cull them to make space for new ones to come. One thing I noticed though, is since they didn't waste any energy blooming they put out lots of increases.

GreenIris said:Tom: Those green Irises are Amazing!!! I was awe struck by that second one. That I know of, no one has introduced one like that!!! I would pay 1st year intro prices for it in a minute!!! You get where I am going here Smiling Please please please register and introduce these. They are already perfect in my opinion!

Also very interesting how that second one came out of Procrastinator. I just so love seeing what produces what!

Ev/Barb/Andrea: Yes..I think it's just too fun to give up, patience and all Smiling

Elsa I don't have the slightest idea how to go about registering and introducing, I suppose it would be a good topic for a new thread if someone has all of that information. I guess I could research it too and find out.

Tom ~ I don't know anything about it either. You might contact Timothy @TBMan or Kent, @KentPfeiffer to find out. Also I would contact the AIS https://www.irises.org/About_I...

I have not yet explored this avenue, as I am very far from being ready. I suppose that it wouldn't hurt to read about it.

Thanks Ev for the info.

Tom: I read through the AIS page Ev posted the link to and I believe all the information is there. $15 for either a name reservation and then registration is free or it is also $15 for a straight registration.

For introduction, it has to be offered to the public. What I never realized is even advertising in the AIS bulletin will be considered an offer to the oublic.

Ok I hate to admit it Because I use their site all the time but I have never joined the AIS. Not because I haven't wanted to but I just get busy. That stops this weekend. Because not only should I because I love Irises but it looks like there is some good perks to boot.

AIS Bulletin comes out 4 times a year & you can get it on line if you wish (not me).

Chubby Cheeks is behind many irises, Tom. One would be surprised at what it produces.

So the late rebloom did occur on Dec 7th after several rounds of below 20 nights. I was so excited...

Thumb of 2019-02-02/GreenIris/35e918

Then hail hit on Dec 12th.

Thumb of 2019-02-02/GreenIris/590ba9
Then I was blessed with yet another bloom that arrived on Dec 26th after many below freezing Winter nights.

Then this happened!!! Such is the life of a winter rebloomer Smiling

I could not be more happy though. I know she ain't the finest looking but she's a tough one. I hope she breeds.

That's one of my seedlings😀 It had maiden bloomed in early June during high heat (pics earlier in thread) so I hoped it was a rebloomer and not just confused.

But then with these winter blooms arriving . I am convinced it's a rebloomer

Elsa ~ That's wonderful. We need irises that can take the extremes of weather these days. They won't be any good unless they bloom. (Just as long as they don't "bloom out", without making increases.) Smiling

That is spectacular, Elsa! I'd LOVE to have a piece of that iris...especially if it likes reblooming in the extremes. My main goal in hybridizing will most likely be centered around rebloomers, and producing rebloomers that can possibly retain the exceptional looks of the spring-only bloomers.

Pardon me on my late-train arrival...I'm assuming a "bloom-out" is when an iris blooms *so* much, it can't cope and thus dies?

Well, to be honest, losing an iris in a grand slam of blooms is better than not getting one at all. If it's gonna die, why not go with a bang? Shrug!

Oh, that poor iris! Blinking Hilarious!
I love that picture of it covered in snow though and I hope the reblooming continues - preferably in more iris-friendly weather! Crossing Fingers!

Ev: So far it has not shown burn out. It didn't bloom the 1st year and I have found with Rebloomers, it can actually be a blessing for them. So they have a chance to get good and strong before doing all that work they do.

Monty: Hilarious! Agree about going out with a bang. Cause of the hot dry air here, I don't lose too many to rot, but occasionally I do have The Big Bang and I am always very pleased with the Iris up to the point of Bang.

Lili: Yes with that snow cover, it looks a bit sad in an alluring way, doesn't it. Like it's saying "Ah poor me" Smiling
