Whoa! Jealous here.....I've just finished sowing another bin full of seeded cups....seeds that I got from you and some grasses from Hayefield. Persian Blue Papaver from DomeHomeDee are surfacing....I'm out of clear storage bins, but eyeing a few of the husband's in the garage...doing some heavy hinting, he's ignoring me....I'm poretty sure those were mine to begin with....LOL...

I tried to wintersow some after seeing your delphs, but they never did well. They not only failed to thrive, they were knocked over in our midwest winds. I gave up on them.

For the first time in many years, I haven't started any seeds yet this year, and I have no indoor plants. Normally I start coleus cuttings from my plants in fall, keep them inside under lights all winter, and have giant beauties by the time spring arrives. But I've become so discouraged in recent years by the deer and rabbits destroying everything, that I'm rethinking the time, energy, and money that I put into my yard. Also, my husband retired this year, and we just returned from 5 weeks in Florida. Since we had planned that well in advance, I knew I'd have to alter my usual seed and plant routines. Still in that process, trying to recover from the vacation!

Karen, come visit me in May. You KNOW I will have grown way too much! You can help me by taking it off my hands. Even if deer or weather destroy them all you've lost is your gas and time visiting

Honestly, it's discouraging. For the past several years I've used mostly coleus in my front flower bed, and it always looked beautiful. But for the past 2 years, some small critter (rabbits, most likely) chomp them off at ground level. They don't even eat them, they just leave the stems there to wilt and die. At any time of day or night, any season of the year, I can walk out my door and see a rabbit.

The deer population has exploded, too. After growing lilies for decades, I gave up because I never saw a bloom anymore. The deer got every one. I gave all my lilies away. I've had phlox David for about 5 years. I've only seen it bloom once, and something ate it within a day or two...

I've tried every repellent- spray, granular, and systemic, and usually in combination. Nothing seems to have any effect.

I love delphs....they are one of my favorite flowers. Unfortunately, they are one of the rabbits favorite flowers also. I have given up after trying for several years..it's just too depressing to see the plants chewed down to the ground.

Here is a Delphinium uncovered in wintersow outdoors saying , Hi There, tiny yet Red with white eye.

Linda, you could grow them in containers.
The older varieties will go through our winters in a container.
