hahaha..... I think you're probably correct Jennifer! It just seems so odd. The other seeds that have sprung seem to happen together, not just one little lonely seedling at a time!

Thanks, Karen! I think I will wait as I don't need 2 jugs of delphiniums, although I hope my seeds in the fridge will be ok until next year? I think I read some people swear you have to have fresh delph seeds to get good germination. These are new millennium, which are supposedly hardier and I've read, easier to get started. Any thoughts on year old delph seeds?

Your delph's are beautiful! I have WS'ed delphiniums this year for the first time. Sowed on March 3. Anxiously awaiting sprouts.

Try grouping them in a crate..

wcgypsy said:My Wintersowing is being done in styrofoam cups set in clear plastic storage bins. Some of the bins have seeds of only one type of plant, some of the bins have mixed plants, each lableled with 'stick in the soil' labels (from min-blinds). There are a lot of these bins set over in my fenced (deer problem) veggie containers area.

We get high winds here...do you see where I'm going with this?.....LOL...

I thought I had all of my bins firmly weighed down, but yep, one got tossed helter-skelter....upside down, cups emptied of soil, labels indiscriminately scattered...this should be interesting.......

Now I will have to pot each resulting seedling and keep it in a pot untill I can determine what in the heck it is......

lol...I had a lot of clear plastic storage bins and my seed cups were in those and all pretty well anchored down on tables, side by side in my fenced-in nursery area (deer). The two that blew to Kansas and back were separate on a table and I am still sick about the loss of those seeds...lol..the only seeds that I've Wintersown this year were several that definitely want some cold....Goldenrod, Clematis...and, I forget the third at the moment, may have been a Penstemon....have a whole lot of seeds to be sown, but will wait for warmer temps, been lazy this year.....

Been there done that. Then I learned to put a couple of bricks in each bin. One brick wasn't enough.

I hear that !! Up here in the far northwest corner of California we had a couple of weeks of really nice weather, then Winter hit again....snow down to low elevation here, but only ice and hail in my yard, looking a lot like snow....Frankly, I'm very tired of it...

I haven't had anything like the snow that you folks in the northeast have had, but I'm sick of this too. It has been an unusually cold early spring. I'm ready for warmth and sunshine.

Our Winter has not been too bad, all things considered...never seem to know what to expect here...of course I suppose that can be said all across the globe now. We went from constant drought conditions in SoCal...to 30 " of rain the first Winter here, I was ecstatic ! Some sun, some rain....really good, second Winter was the same...love this...the next Winter was over 100" of rain, not smiling anymore. This Winter was supposed to be a La Nina year, colder and wetter here...so, it has been colder, but bearable and not as wet as I'd feared. I saw our heavy freeze nights as a sign to get off my tush and sow those things that would like it. I am needing some encouragement about this Spring thing...I sowed clematis, goldenrod and (I checked on the third, it was sanguisorba).....so I go out there each day to look and say "Up, Up, Up !! Get Up !...lol...

I think that we are all tired of Winter...I am in desperate need of warmer, sunnier days....my spirit is lagging and I think I'm getting pretty Snarky...

I'm going Forest Bathing April 8. At this rate, I might be bathing in snow. Blinking

"In 1982, Japan made shinrin-yoku, or "forest bathing," a part of its national health program. The aim was to briefly reconnect people with nature in the simplest way possible. Go to the woods, breathe deeply, be at peace. Forest bathing was Japan's medically sanctioned method of unplugging before there were smartphones to unplug from. Since shinrin-yoku's inception, researchers have spent millions of dollars testing its efficacy; the documented benefits to one's health thus far include lowered blood pressure, blood glucose levels, and stress hormones."
