'Fiji' is an evergreen tetraploid introduced in 2007 by Grace Stamile. See Grace (and husband, Pat's) website for information about the daylilies they grow in Arroyo Grande, CA: http://www.distinctly.on.ca/st...

For more information about Grace (and Pat), read Char's thread: The thread "ATP Series: The Daylilies of Patrick and Grace Stamile" in Daylilies forum

Fiji is an early to mid-season EMO bloomer with possible rebloom. It has earned the Honorable Mention: 2013 AHS award. It is listed as both pod and pollen fertile. It currently has only 1 registered child: http://garden.org/plants/paren...

In my limited experience, this cultivar has had problems with not opening properly or having deformed flowers.

I've only had Fiji for a few years. I think it's a gorgeous daylily and I'll keep it but so far it hasn't been a strong performer.

The bud count has been low, total of 6 blooms on 2 scapes last year One bloom was great, Hurray! two were nice and the others were "flat" and very disapointing. This year there's 7 blooms total on 2 scapes. Hopefully these will have a higher percentage of great blooms.

I bought 2 fans that were big and very healthy but they haven't multiplied.

Update June 30, 2018:
Didn't perform well this year. Fans look good but not multiplying. Low bloom count and lackluster blooms.
Only had one awesome bloom in 3 years. I'll move it to another garden before I give up.

I've had Fiji since 2013. The flowers can hang sometimes but it hasn't been a major issue for me. However, last year it did not bloom. I assumed it was because of the drought. But this year we've had more rain than is typical and Fiji just doesn't look good (small fans) and has no scapes. I'm beginning to think it just isn't a good fit for my climate.

It is pod fertile so I have two seedlings from Fiji with scapes that are much healthier looking.

Update: 12/30/19-two years of heavy rain must have been the reason for the profusion of blooms this year. I've never had so many scapes on my small clump. The flowers may have been somewhat smaller than previous years but there were so many more of them I didn't mind. This is one cultivar that seems to thrive on supplemental water.
