Plenty of small birds at our feeders all the time... so ? I did once see an owl swoop in and pick a red squirrel off a bird feeder.

I put out a lot of seed, literally dumping some in a pile on the ground for the two Mallards we get by the feeder every spring.

We always throw some on the ground too - mainly for the juncos and doves, and now for the turkeys that are hanging around. We've had ducks walk through the yard on the way to somewhere, but I've never seen them eating the bird seed! Smiling

Eight days till summer starts.
There have been a few days of real spring this year, unlike last year, and with the late emerging of plants this year, I kind of like it.

I have to look at the Farmers Almanac to see what is forcast for Hell month to come but so far much better than last year. (One good thing, I have a good supply of fireworks for this Fourth of Hell Month) I tip my hat to you.

Very late here, for sure - we still have only hit the low 70s a handful of times. Pleasant temperatures for me, but I'm pretty sure the garden would be happier if it was at least a little warmer! (I really hope winter doesn't come early this year, though Blinking )

I am hoping for a nice warm fall season as it has been cold for so late this year. The furnace clicked on this morning and I had it set way down. At least we finally have rain here. It has been a very dry start for gardening.

RpR said: 52 sunny with a slight breeze; fifties next few days then head back to mostly thirties.
Palm Sunday tomorrow so should be nice in the morning for church but next Sunday, Easter is as of now forecast cold.

No family meal next week as we are heading to a foo-foo restaurant in the Twin Cities with Sharon's Niece.
Some thing different but I still miss family holiday meals.
Buffet will be 32 bucks a person but you get champagne with your meal.

Once again checking what has been written in the past .
Interesting to see what weather was mentioned in these old posts, and how Easter , which is long past now was still coming.
Missy moved up to Brainerd in her late Mom's house so no more foo-foo restaurant meals in the Twin Cities. -- ( Kind of sad though, as except for going to the Casino there, no good reasons to go to the Twin Cities any more. Sad )

Well Spring is still on the way in 2024 but way ahead of where it was for several past years, despite cold, warm, cold , warm, cold... past months.
It will be in the seventies this week end so, I will wander out to do some yard work, and probably get rid of a lot of the debris in the garden.
It looks real trashing right now.
Arbor Day is two weeks away , so, Happy Arbor Day! Thumbs up

It's raining, it's pouring, the Old Man is Snoring.

It has been raining hard, on and off , for hours with more coming after a break right now.
We need it but I wish I had put down the weed & feed yesterday.
45 degrees so shopping for plants is not on the top burner right now.
Garden will be sloppy wet and the debris I had intended to bury this week will probably wait for another. Shrug! ,

Ugh - I think that's probably the same storm that is heading our way, supposed to rain tonight and tomorrow. Better than a repeat of the April 2nd snowstorm, though!

Saw some grackles and red-wing blackbirds today Smiling

I wish we were getting some of your rain, driest and warmest winter on record. Sighing! We got an inch of snow the other night, it melted quickly once the sun came out.

Same on this side of the mountains…..very dry and the city is already talking of imposing watering restrictions.
