3 1 Half Capful of Hydrogen Peroxide )

This is for watering the seed as it germinates ( The bottle spray mix )

Hydrogen Peroxide is good for Ph Adjusting the mix ,, ( The mix only needs to stay that Ph , until the seed sprouts ..)
After their a few days old from germination or they begin to grow I use a half capful of Ammonia in the spray bottle ( A different bottle the same size as shown above ) ( filtered water )

So far within about ten days , I have 2 Moso ,germinated , only one growing so far
2 #4 Black Bamboo Germinated ,
Not 100% happy with the look of the seedling , Smaller Than usual ..
However am 100% delighted in the time period (poof) That the seedling has occurred and the seeds are looking good as germinating ,

While most show a lot about growing Bamboo from seed , Not many have worked well for my Amateur self ,
However with four seeds germinated in a 8 or 10 days , ( one started growing in two days , as compared to months , )
And two Cuttings of a Fargesia Growing two new shoots from the seed mix ..

This was from a dime Booklet in the 1960's About how to "pop" germinate seeds
There is more that is a little more technical ,
I am looking forward to trying a few more ( Hard to Germinate ?) seed types , with this technique ,,

gardengus Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! For your support

The others I cannot post here really as unsafe ,, Electro saline is one for popping hard coated seeds .. Not that anyone would electrocute their self , I don't want to be responsible ..
These came from the Centennial 1 - 5 - 10 , stores you got a small bag of 6 or 12 booklets for a dime , I remember a few , not all

While many would rather eradicate Bamboo , Mine are mostly for pots or clumping ..
Still it is good to be able to start some difficult to start seeds with this , and a few more seeds made easier ..
Thank You! sincerely and again ,

The difficult part gets here when trying to learn how to make them go to seed ,, or making a new variety ,, Whew ,, Blinking

Some are looking okay , but so far only this ,from seeds

It has always taken 3 wks to months for me to get any to grow usually , I have seen it take up to three years ,
That in the pic excited me in the beginning , (sort of) 3 days it sprouted in
Other seeds are still green covered with protein gel ,

Jim you may not have a lot of responses but I see over 200 people have read your ''blogging''
Some times people just do not know what to say to something new. I for one never even knew you could start bamboo from seeds.

gardengus It is not an easy seed to start , and since most only seed once a century . Luck and viability plays a bunch ..

Usually though I get pleasure from trying , I bought these two about 9 or 12 dollars . Even if they are all I get , that is not bad for two bamboo plants Hilarious!
Other seeds are still looking okay ,, I don't know , I have had these sprout from 1 week to 2 1/2 years , I am at about 3 months with these ,

Never mind not knowing you could grow bamboo from seeds -- I didn't know you could grow it in Indiana! Jim, does it grow to the point of producing seeds for you, then? Interesting technique for sprouting... thanks for sharing this! Thumbs up

Wheedwhacker I have never had any produce seeds , (my next possible project experiment) My river cane outside is doing slowly as is a Fargesia , The two outside are unlikely to be invasive here , However there is some not far from here that is taking over old railroad locations ,,
The two above can grow where you are , ..

all grow in shade here , nice house pot plant , most anyway , Mine will all stay in pots . Except the two already outdoors
The second one I believe is a Black Bamboo , The new sprout I have no idea (mixed seeds

These so far are all from the seeds planted Feb 22
