Morning all...DH was a little puzzled to see me taking a pic of a skate key while the 10 pm news was on. Probably attributed it to too much candy!

Hi Gordon, the glass balls are mine at the front of this thread. They have a little oak tree fungi and a tiny cryptanthus in each. I made them last year for gardening friends. The cryps last a long time with just a couple of drops of water on them. When they get too big, or start to fade, you just pull them out with tweezers.
(P.S., The article about your beautiful roof top garden comes out on Halloween, I believe, but you've have to verify that with "the boss").

And one more thing. In my garden I've observed that the female praying mantis have evolved to where they no longer kill the males after mating, opting instead to take the males' tiny wallets and skipping to the nearest mall.

Oh... it is interesting... I never knew there was so much expelling of body fluids and food while reading these threads... I bet there's 4-6 instances of it reported on this thread alone.. plus the ones not reported..
It was hopelessly funny though Sandi.. and I can't wait to see how your photos turned out.. and how it all runs... Thanks...
Lynn... did you mean why she does it.. or what happens when she does... My guess is it helps to be female to understand the why of it.. Rolling on the floor laughing
as far as the song tie in.. it was all my speculation based on the name I was told... and the way the song is worded and leaves out critical information... as well as the movments of the dance.. and the fact it was a spanish versed song.. it all seemed to mesh for me.. OT AS IT WAS ..

Nope. I thought we were going to get snow, and now it seems the storm has blown through with just rain for us. Up the road on the way to Telluride, however, it has been snowing for a couple of days. (About 40 - 60 miles north there has been snow). Now that the garden is closed for the winter, the fireplace is open... and being used! It was cold and rainy and damp today.

I read about that snow on another thread, I think it was Toni who showed photos. Isn't it early for snow there?

Not really, Sharon. The first year we lived here full time it snowed BIG on October 28th, and we then had snow pretty much until May. Up north, they're hoping for lots of early snow... good for Telluride's ski season.

we never get snow this early.. when they warned us of it I was unmoved by their threats... I'm three weeks away from my safe move in time...
We got some anyway... a food test for my zone 5 growing Brug... the only problem is it likes to bloom in the snow...
It will be a few days before they show me how they really feel about it all...
this one looks the best of them... Endless Summer

I managed to cut mine back on Sat. before the first frost. They had finally started blooming, some in full bloom and beautiful. Have many cuttings.
