Hi Prabhi - you're going to love your hozon siphon mixer. Here's what you need to know. I use Miracle Grow and mix up 1 cup of Miracle Grow to 1 gallon of water. I use an empty cat litter jug for the solution.

You'll want to mix it a day before you want to use it as the granules take a while to fully dissolve unless you use very hot water. Mark off a 1 gallon spot on what ever jug you are using. Fill up the jug with water then dump in the 1 cup of Miracle Grow or whatever tablespoon per gallon fertilizer you wish to use. Put the cap on the jug and shake it really well. Shake it again a few hours later and the next morning, shake it again to make sure the granules have dissolved.

You'll also want to use either a fan sprayer or simple watering wand with a shut off valve in the handle - not the trigger type. Do not use a watering wand that has multiple settings for spray type and a hand trigger. The reason being that when you start restricting the flow of water you're going to lose your siphon.

Mine works perfectly on a 100 foot hose.

My hose length for outside watering in the summer is probably 150 feet. Is there a siphon that will work with that length? I tried on several years ago and didn't know till AFTER I bought it I had too much hose. I don't like the Miracle Grow one you put on the end of the hose............too much fiddling around. In the winter I just dump the needed amount into my 200 gallon tank in the greenhouse and water everything that way. It's the summer fertilizing that gets to be a pain. We're talking at LEAST 60 large pots.

Anna, I'd be willing to bet that if you used a non restrictive fan spray or watering wand like I described, it probably would work for 150 ft hose .. also, cut the rubber siphon hose so that I only lays on the bottom of your jug no more than an inch.

You can look up siphon mixer and/or hozon.

op I guess I am not understanding your question.

You are looking for a recipe/formula for making/mixing a vrey concentrated formula that you can later just add water to by using the garden hose with the dispenser/sprayer?

SO are you looking for a homemade formula/recipe or asking about products that you can purchase?
And it may be helpful to know what you are spraying, how much, how often ect.

And also just a little tad that I know you know but is always a good reminder ... If you are mixing a solution poisonous in a container that is not an original container, be certain to mark it clearly, and that it has child proof lid and is locked in a secure area away from pets/children as concentrated solutions are far more dangerous even than the watered down versions.

It says "maximum hose length 50 feet". That is the one I had before and it did not work for me.

Was it a Hozon? The brass siphon mixer? That's the one I have and it works perfectly on my 100 foot hose.

Guess I will stick to mixing up my Miracle Grow in the 5 gallon pails. LOL

Nope, it didn't work. A waste of my $25.00.

Bummer .. here's a thought .. get a shorter hose and let the siphon mixer do the mixing for you. I do that all the time for plants in the greenhouse.

If I am understanding the question that you are looking for a 'recipe' for a liquid that can be sprayed...

You can make compost tea, strain it well to remove any solids and use that as a spray.

Here is an article that has several links for liquid fertilizer.
http://garden.org/ideas/view/g...

Not long ago one of the members posted that she chops/grinds (?) bananas and allows them to soak and uses the liquid as fertilizer. Thumbs up

I'm sure there are more recipes but that's all I know.

well I understand that he is wanting something not just TO spray but that is also absorbed by the plants leaves? I guess it depends on the type of plant?

@Xeramtheum Are you still in love with your Hozon? I'm getting ready to order one with a backflow preventer from Amazon. DH is looking at another one for me, an EZ-Flow that is more expensive, but I don't think I need such a large one.

You're welcome .. just make sure you follow what I wrote to the letter:

Do not use a watering wand that has multiple settings for spray type and a hand trigger. The reason being that when you start restricting the flow of water you're going to lose your siphon.
