I thought about that there are two folks tring to grow here in NC as reported by the PC Iris association...mountains..Asheville. Both failed -so far!
If the seed will bloom first year, I would be happy to treat as annuals.

The humidity is hard on them during their dormant time during the summer. From all I have read they are very fussy!

I have trouble growing Arilbreds for the same reason. Too wet with the heat.

I'm in the thick of PCI territory.. I've lost easily as many as have grown. One of the easier ones is 'Canyon Snow'. Also 'San Lorenzo Valley' has been vigorous and trouble free. If you can find either of those varieties, I'd start there.

I can't grow Delphiniums either. Shrug!

After Leslie said can't do...I kept looking and it has been tried and settingup little climates in our mountains ( I am in the piedmont ) and it looks like really can't do...but I am going to at least try a few seeds and thanks for the suggestion as to which!

I have found some local iris ( the source local.)
Very reputable..have bought other plants on open house days.

AND these are part sun to shade!!!

I thought you might like to see what I can choose from if I use this vendor

Now I will need a second mortgage.

Apology if some duplicates
Also I have seen that parts of the beds get decent sun I have been tracking
Most of these iris are at least part sun and I believe one or two shade OK

I will wait to add bonemeal. I have added loads of soil and compost
Now to keep the weeds out until fall...

It has been an adventure and I sincerely thank you all for your advice and encouragement and expertise.
