Last summer I was at a party at some Hispanic friends of mine. The tacos were amazing. They were made of bar B Q goat. First time I've ever eaten goat. It's very mild and good. Fresh Cilantro, scallions, salsa and a bit of Lime squeezed on it. Yummmmmm. Even the tortillas were home made!

Sounds delicious Tom!

Everything was homemade last night too, but it was beef, not goat. I don't think I've ever tried goat meat, but I do love goat cheese. Our tacos were beef, cheese, salsa, guacamole, lettuce, beans, rice, salsa and radishes. The beans and rice were supposed to be side dishes, but I shove everything into the taco shells. Sticking tongue out

I ate 10 tacos... *Blush*

Must have been really good tacos then Rob!

I like goat. I have had it mostly in middle Eastern food, but I think it would be very good in Mexican food as well. I know it is popular in their pit BBQ.

We've had goat at a Mexican restaurant which is no longer in business (due to family health reasons, not because they were lacking in customers). It was surprisingly good and tender and tasty.

(You've got me hungry for tacos or burritos now, Rob... Sticking tongue out when it's take-out Thai for dinner (and I am not a big fan of Thai... unlike DH).)

While not iris seedlings, I started 36 more daylily seeds last night, some of which were pre-sprouted. I would have done more, but I was out of (in-the-house) 4" pots and potting soil. This afternoon I went out between the misty raindrops to fetch (and clean) more 4" pots, and another bag of potting soil from the shed. I got damp enough that I had to change shirts when I came back inside. Even Warp decided he didn't want to be out there in that, though by now he is going stir crazy. (We've had to keep a towel for him by the patio door, thrown on the back of one of the dining room chairs. His coat has been getting wet enough that we've had to towel him off every time he comes in on these rainy days, even if his paws *aren't* all dirty and muddy.)

Once it is time to collect iris seeds (if any), you all are going to have to school me on what the drill is... I have read conflicting posts as to whether or not to start the seeds asap, or wait until winter and plant them outside, or else stratify them in the fridge... (more seeds in the fridge... DH will just love that Hilarious! ).
Evaluating an iris seedling, hopefully for rebloom

When I was a child my family spent six months in Arizona. Everything was new to me from the wild burro's in the hills to the panthers that came to fight over our garbage can at night. One of the things I remember is Hispanic women setting up to cook near a depot. In a very hot summer they would use a large rock as a 'stove' to lay their corn tortillas and meat on and add cheese to prepare a lovely 'sandwich' type meal and wrap it in a corn shuck. They would then go along the passenger cars exchanging this little 'sandwich' for a few coins through the windows and open cars. Being a friendly little child and looking so different than the townspeople I managed to make many friends and sample a few good things. I have never been able to re-create the taste. It was unique and delicious..... and the cooks were quiet, adept and beautiful.
Thro' all the tumult and the strife I hear the music ringing; It finds an echo in my soul— How can I keep from singing?

Bonnie, while I grew up in SoCal, we would see the same thing. Mom would never let us sample them but dad did. We never let on that we did. I miss those days. Lol

The outside bit with seeds works here in New England. Not sure what would happen in CA. Have to ask people in your climate. With ours, inside would make it work. Outside cold makes it fun.

I've got an old lemon/lime squeezer of a different design. I think it might have been my father's.. I had one like the one in the link years ago that broke.. I agree... a squeezer makes the task go much more quickly. I believe in having good quality tools for a job, whether it for the garden, the kitchen, or my guitars (which I don't have nearly as many as I do Iris) Whistling

Well I sure hope not Sherry -- you'd need another house just to store the guitars in................. Rolling my eyes.

They keep having older guitars on antiques Road Show. Just ir ses here. I did not get a box with 4 SDBs seedlings planted out last year. If we get them out when the ground can be worked, they might bloom as are 2nd year plants.

Yup some are much later. Last year I had some pop up just before I was ready to set them out.
