Most "accidents" are bad, Anne, but yours ended up being a good one.

Yes indeed! As I mentioned before in another post, I grew up in Ft. Lauderdale with air plants all around me and really didn't 'see' them because they were everywhere and I never saw one in bloom. It wasn't until a friend gave me one a few years ago and I looked up what the blooms looked like and was amazed and instantly hooked.

There are many in the trees where I walk here in central FL, they were blooming quite early this year since we had a very mild winter, but then we got hot and drier than our normal March and the flowers dried up earlier than usual. One day I'll be able to afford a good zoom lens to photograph them.

Thumbs up I would love to see photos of what you see on a regular basis there in FL, Sherri. Can you identify the various varieties of tillandsia that are native in your area?

Ken, I see two varieties here, Cardinal Airplant, and Bartram's Airplant, I've tried to get photos with my cell phone this year, but they didn't turn out well. We are now getting a lot of rain again, so maybe they'll bloom again. I really don't know when they normally bloom.

I bought this one at a plant show in March, was told it was pretty easy to grow in Central FL and will get blue and pink flowers, but silly me didn't get the name of it.
