My 'Sun Power' was moved last year from a dark corner where it was languishing to a full-sun location (we had to remove a tree) where another hosta had totally fried early in the season.

At first it like the additional sun and was looking good, but by the end of the season, it was looking pretty sad. I've seen well-respected gardeners who write columns for the media promote this one as one that can take full sun but they really should know better. It cannot and I've proven it.

May 16 in its original location

July 3 it was looking great

By Aug. 2, it was beginning to get crispy around the edges

I planted SunPower in my new sunny bed late in Aug last year so will have to see how it performs for me. There is some shading later in the day from the trees so hopefully it will do ok. Thanks for the info Ann.

If you've got shade it might be OK. Eventually I will have shade there but I may have to get creative in the short term. In the July 3 picture above, you can see a sapling of a Mountain Ash tree that volunteered there. I think we will let it grow.
