We were at friends' home enjoying a birthday celebration...63 years young. So I thought to take some pictures of some of their plants. I will give their names in our language...but if we don't have the name in our language, then I'll give the common name.

Oh! Lovely photos KD! My first time to see achuete plant, have only seen the seeds which we use for the food coloring in some of our recipes.
Interesting to see the similarities in the names, and how we call the plant in our Fil language too:
achote = achuete
sigidiyas = sigarilyas
papaya =papaya
laguana = had to check what we call it, to us it is guyabano
seboyas= sibuyas = onions; if it is scallions though, we call it sibuyas na mura
suni = gabi= taro
Thanks, Tarev! Yep...Spanish language influence for the names of the vegi's and fruits, just as in your culture when the Spaniards went exploring. We pronounce the word cake, "kek."

Ah, I would not correct their spelling like that Gerry, yours would be the actual Spanish spelling, but as used in other locales, it is spelled and pronounced differently, similar to how it goes in our Filipino language.
