Not exactly hippeastrum, but interesting enough to share i think.
About a month ago i've got three worsleya seeds. I started with the floating method (worsleya seeds are very similar to hippeastrum seeds). After some advice, i changed to perlite mixed with some soil, as they had not germinated yet. Perlite would be a good permanent growing medium, and it also doesn't really increase the risk of rotting. In the first couple of months they are very fragile, so it is better not to disturb them when very young.
After about two weeks in the perlite and some sunny days, the first two started to make a root
. The third seed also germinated two days later.
First sign of life:
Five days later: the leaf sheath already present.
