This small, streaky hosta is as close to slug-proof as any in my garden, though it did get nibbled a bit when I was away in July for two weeks. I've had it long enough to consider it mature. Please feel free to post your own pictures of this hosta.

Aug. 13 - by comparison, note the slug damage on the mini-hostas surrounding 'Rainbow's End'.

Sept. 28 - it holds up well late in the season.

This is one of mine that has decided it's time to wake up! Saw several pips yesterday while on my stroll!

That's great Rose! Wish I could say the same. Did a little stroll around the yard yesterday morning; a few things poking through but too early for hostas here. Then, along came snow and my "spring" yard was back to winter again. Grumbling

Uh oh!! I'm sorry...probably shouldn't tell you that I cleaned up another bed today and saw several pips peeking up at me!

I've got a few crocuses poking through where the snow is gone.

ViolaAnn,
How long have you been raising hostas? I am slowly filling in a wooded area with hosta and other shade loving plants. Kathy

Kathy - I started, I guess, in the late '90s. Slowly at first and then it took off after I met another nearby hosta grower on Dave's Garden and started swapping plants. It happens rather insidiously. One day you're a sensible gardener and the next you're an addict. Sticking tongue out

I know about becoming an addict. I think that I picked up 5 last year when I was with my youngest daughter. She just laughed and said only you Mom. I hope to add more this year. If you ever have any to divide, I would gladly pay for postage.

I could divide, but I'm in Canada and there's this international border between us that prohibits sharing of hostas without expensive paperwork. But it's definitely not ONLY you!
