crowrita1 said:It's all a question of priorities, and "life style" changes.......I'd rather have more irises, than new blue jeans.( the 'holes" are an *in* thing, and make me look *cool*....as well as make me FEEL cool Sticking tongue out ), I'm too old to spend time 'partying", so, beer money goes to iris, I no longer make political contributions, as the politicians can steal plenty, on their own, without me giving them any more , there's no sense planning on leaving any money to my kids.....if they even "half way" listened to what we tried to teach them, they won't need it, and, if they DIDN'T listen, they would just waste it anyway! I save tons of money on haircuts (I'm bald), I don't have a gym, or 'health club" membership....working in the garden is FREE exercise! I DO spend quite a bit on fishing tackle, but, that's REALLY needed for the garden, also.....remember Squanto and the Pilgrims ? I never have to spend much on entertaining friends.....the "true" friends I have don't need any additional "entertainment" other than our time together, and, being somewhat obnoxious helps hold the numbers down, too Rolling on the floor laughing ! So, you see, it's pretty easy to find the $ for iris !

Sounds good to me. I am just displaying envy . . not judgment I tip my hat to you.

Welcome Barbalee.
A word of warning. If you hang around iris too long you may get the iris virus.
Liz is displaying classic symptoms.
Don't worry if you contract it. It will run its course in 20-30 years.

Symptoms may include, but not limited to: looking at iris vendors every day, placing an order AT LEAST once/week, adding onto existing orders up to 5 times, seeing someone's iris picture on the forum and needing to find a place that sells it right that minute, feeling anxious waiting for your irises to bloom, also feeling anxious about having to wait until July/August for new irises to arrive in the mail, buying irises when you know you have nowhere to put them...I could go on and on...

Newbie here also, I had a few from my gm and gf's garden and received a few here and there in swaps and would see them in nurseries and pick them up
Then the iris forum happened and I discovered online catalogs when I couldn't garden for awhile
I really haven't tallied how many I have ordered but I prefer slightly off balance 😉

I'm still just slightly off balance...which comes as quite the surprise, Hilarious! I'm at exactly 70 rhizomes on order. Still on the fence, but will probably order a few from Mid America. The total will likely remain under 100, for purchases at least....

I sure hope you are lining up planting helpers and lots of pots (for those that don't go in the ground right away). Liz!

Whew - that is a really impressive amount.

It's hard to think about planting when I have been transported back into Winter Crying

I think I may have to pot up all of the bonuses, because I don't have a place for them at the moment.
