Yes, our mild spell will be going away by Friday. I love the relatively mild days. We can go for longer exorcise walks as it is nicer to be outside. If it gets really cold we don't even go for shorter exercise walks. Really cold and its down to the end of the street and the grassy area everyone with dogs around here calls the 'pottry area' and then quickly back inside again.

Other days we at least do the one mile loop and usually extra. I try to do at least two miles but if I am getting cold I cut it short.

Lily is always bundled up in one of her coats and so am I.

I hope everyone enjoyed their holidays & the new year. The holidays were almost excruciating for me to go through; what got me through it, was my fluffball cat, Tigger. His sandpaper kisses & cuddles really helped me through it all. And oddly enough, he seemed to know how I felt & wanted to make me feel better. Bless all the animals in our lives for not only being our companions & best friends, but for being cherished family members also.

I agree! It looks like you can walk a goodly ways there.

I agree with the above observation.

We initially walked Plato down our street to where it runs into farm land and then back along the railroad tracks. He really looks forward to and enjoys his walks. When I ask him if he wants to go on a walk, he starts smiling and jumping up and down all the way to the door. If we use the word 'walk' in normal conversation we have to spell it out otherwise he goes ballistic (in a good way).

They are smart. They know those words like walk and treat!!

Wish it wasn't raining but it is so no exercise walk for us. If it nice like yesterday we often go the long 3 1/2 mile walk (or more). But it is just walking around the neighborhood. I wish it was as pretty as That picture with Plato but not so rural around here!!

We have a park across the street where it would be really nice but no dogs allowed. I do take Lily though when no one much seems to be around. Then next to the park nature trails where one can hike. Again no dogs allowed although I do take Lily on the beach part there and let her run.

Debbie, I'm so glad Tigger was there for you! I think the holiday season is highly overrated... it seems to cause a lot more stress than "joy." Best wishes for a safe, healthy and happy 2017 -- to you and everyone here. Smiling

Yes, Happy New Year to you all!

Heh, spelling works.... for a while...... and then..... they learn to spell. Then you have to get really inventive and make up code words for real words. They sure can keep us on our toes!

No new pet thread for 2017 as yet?

I took Lily for an exercise walk in spite of the cold. I bundled her up good and since she didn't appear to be cold we were able to get in a three mile walk.

Well, I didn't have to shovel snow so I did take Lily on her exercise walk. I didn't want to go far off like we sometimes do so I only did the one mile loop but I went 3 times around. So we walked three miles.

I didn't see any other dog walkers out in the not so nice weather.

Rita - does Lily have an undercoat in her fur? Charlie (Toy Fox Terrier) does not have an undercoat and gets very cold very quickly. I put a sweater on him and have a little fleece wrap coat on top of that. But he still starts shivering quickly (temp now of 25 degrees).

LOL -- our cats will occasionally park themselves in the middle of the (large) dog beds, too.... despite the fact that they could go anywhere to sleep (plus having a couple of cat beds), while the dogs aren't allowed on the furniture. Rolling my eyes.
