The standards on this iris are a bit open but for a really blue color in an IB it is worth seeing a big clump in the garden!

Bonnie: I've enjoyed seeing your bloomers! Can't believe you have so many blooming so early.
I have bud scapes on quite a few of my TBs, but I'm afraid the cold snap this weekend will do them
in and I will not get to see them bloom.

Hoping more scapes form and bloom for me.

I was so excited when I first spotted those early scapes.

Angie, I hope so too. It is such a dirty trick for the weather to temp our plants into blooming and then zap them. This spring has been really all over the place with temps and my plants are responding to the drastic changes in odd ways. I have some MDB's and some TB's opening at the same time.

I am looking forward to seeing your photos.

I enjoyed seeing your photos of these little ones. Many were firsts. My favorites were Autumn Orange, Bowl of cherries, Cat's Eye, Rainbow Rim, and. Vixen Elf. Of course any would be welcome in my garden. I was excited to see ones I have on order this year too like Chocolate Swirl and Teagon. 💗💗💗

More little blooms to come Niki. Once you get started growing these little guys you will be hooked.

A few more early TB's will be open early next week. Wired is still opening blooms. That is some bloomin' iris.

I cant capture the beards very well but they are big and bushy. I imagine that is how this little guy got his name. The hybridizer looked at those beards and said 'wow, look at those bad boys'. LOL

I agree Neal. The little guys are really good at clumping in the first year. If I plant an area with little guys it will look sparse and not be lovely until after the first year. Then it looks like a garden.
