Hi Carol it means there is no identification of the cultivars name. Took me awhile to figure it out.. Better to ask. Welcome to ATP. Welcome!

No wonder I couldn't see it. It's NO ID, not "noid". Sheesh. Thanks, Leslieray

Hi Carol, Welcome from me too!

It was quite perplexing to me, the first time I saw the word noid as well as a few other strange ones. I prefer typing it out as No ID or No identification but in this technical age, noid seems to be the norm. I remember a few years ago when someone on another site explained the meaning of a bunch of words that were very strange to this old gal. Green Grin! The only ones I remember right off the top of my head are:

DH - Dear Husband
SO - Significant Other
DD - Dear Daughter
DS - Dear Son
TY - Thank you
TYVM - Thank you very much
TTYL - Talk to you later

Welcome! @CarolHB. I have always seen the NOID used but the previous explanations are dead-on. I probably have three dozen orchids that are labeled "NOID". I am just waiting for them to bloom and when I see those flowers, I will know what orchid variety they are. Those "NOID" labels will slowly disappear. Hurray!

Welcome to the site Caroll. I used to know some friends who lived in Huntington Beach. Had a neat visit there (in the 80's).

My sister-in-law and her husband lived in Manhattan Beach for a number of years. They have retired to Arroyo Grande. My wife was born and reared in Fresno but she's been here in Mississippi for 46 years. We have been married for 44 of those years.

Again, Welcome!

Welcome to All Things Plants, Carol !

The abbreviations can definitely get confusing -- it seems the people that do a lot of texting (that wouldn't be me, for sure) have a LOT of them...

a couple that took me quite a while to figure out were YMMV (explained by Woofie, above), and WRT ("with regard to").

Never be afraid to ask -- chances are good that if you don't know what something is, someone else that's reading it doesn't either!

I love asking questions, especially of people who know the answers - and have yet to find anyplace to look up abbreviations, at least one that has them all. HAGD, and thanks for all the welcomes. Carol
