This is my picture of what was sold to me under this name by a well known on line nursery. It looks exactly like the picture of what they offered by the same name - I had printed a copy of the picture. (They no longer carry this one.) Now here are 2 links showing also showing the semp under this name. I don't think the pictures on either one of those two sites looks anything like mine. Do you think mine might have been mislabeled?

Sorry - I only put the name in the title of the thread. Here it is: Sempervivum 'Atroviolaceum' (Heimlich)

Chris here are two more sites that have your plant. I believe your plant is ID correctly, it is just in different growing conditions. Have you had this plant a full year? Does it color up? I am seeing the same leaf shape, water markings and correct color that you will find in different seasons. The Japanese sight does look very different, but every where else I look, yours matches up.

By the way, this last link is a pretty interesting German site. Will have to look at the other pages provided. Big Grin

Thanks Lynn. Yes, I have to agree with you - it does look correct. The red actually shows up more now than it does in the picture, but it does color up in the Fall. Thanks for your help!!

That German site does look interesting - thanks for the link too.

Here's a pic of my S. 'Atroviolaceum' (Heimlich) display pot in full color. The maple tree has since been removed. It's a beautiful semp and always well behaved.

That is really pretty twit. Look how much it changes. I love the little hot pink stolons.
It must be a pretty good producer?

Not a bad producer and one of the one's I have extra of. As I said, it is well behaved and never gives me trouble. Had it for many years and once thought I lost the ID. Then the plastic pot it was in started falling apart and I re-potted it. During the re-pot, I found the ID tag buried under the soil. ( for awhile, I was burying ID tags to protect them from breakdown under UV - worked in this case)

Atroviolaceum (Heimlich) has been around a long time.

If you have extra, would you add that to my want list? I will put it on the file card I have for you. You at the top, me at the bottom, two lists. : )

I am so tired after cleaning house, planting 21 tomato plants, weeding, planting more plants, making a big country breakfast for company this morning. I feel like I could go to bed right now. Blinking

It's 8:23 here, but I was up and running early.
You go to bed at 11pm and get up at 3? No wonder you are tired. That's not enough sleep. Blinking
I'd be staggering around here in a mess. Been there and done that before. I got up at 3:30 am and started work at 5. Did that for 17 years. I did love my work though, but the perpetual 'Not enough sleep', takes it tole after awhile.

Sorry, I looked at the time of your post, as displayed on the site, not thinking it would be adjusted for local time. I sleep twice a day, for about 3 hours each time. Every once in a while, I crash and sleep for 8.

Beautiful Kate. Could you add them to the semp database? Wonderful color in both photos. http://cubits.org/sedumandsemp...
