Ummmm .... no picture because the wind has destroyed the bloom. Grumbling Grumbling

Waves of Joy opened a full 7" bloom this morning. Should have another one soon, so will try to get a picture of that one. Scapes all over the place now!!!

I took this pic early this morning with my phone. While I don't like the direction of lighting, it's better than nothing!

Sorry to hear the wind blew you first bloom to pieces. Look forward to seeing your next bloom of Waves Of Joy. It's one of those daylilies that can make you drool, almost need a bib. Hilarious!

What a shame that the first bloom of the season got damaged. But I'm sure it won't be long before you have many more photo ops Thumbs up Thumbs up

Congrats on your first bloom! Too mad the wind destroyed it later in the day. Waves does have a striking pattern!

Arlene - Your posted photo isn't bad. Beautiful bloom! One I covet. You will have to keep me updated on how it does here in Florida. Maybe it's stronger than it's parent, Dragonfly Dawn (which I love). My DD seedlings don't seem to do so great here. I may have to figure out another pattern daylily to use in my hybridizing program.....

I really like that photo with the light shining through the blossom.
It makes the details show up very well, and your bloom is beautiful.
Haven't seen this one bloom in my garden yet, so your photo is a
very nice preview. Thanks so much!

My first bloom of the year was from Big Snowbird that I received and transplanted into my daylily raised bed on Dec. 28, 2015. I received this lovely cultivar from @kousa . It has put up 3 scapes so far. Unfortunately, I have no other daylilies blooming, so am going to try my hand once again at freezing the pollen from this lovely cultivar to use on other cultivars when they eventually bloom. This was on a 22" scape producing a 5" bloom.

Waves of Joy bloomed again today. It was 60 degrees this morning, which probably affected the bloom.

I just love the way the name Waves of Joy reflects the appearance of movement in the eye of the bloom. Great name.
