According to Herr Horst's site there is a Novak and a Novak ll - Our database has only Novak and it looks like the photos there are actually Novak ll (hopefully! No more NOID's please!) Mine, which I got from SMG, is doing interesting stripey things.

Patty, it does look like we have two different Novak types in our database entry.

I got mine from SMG in 2013 and it is definitely NOT the same plant.

And I'm getting tired of buying named plants that turn out to be NOIDS too.

Chris,

I hope you did not have to pay extra for the name?
I'd actually not care if I was in your place - it is still a beautiful and prolific semp.
I guess you would have bought it if you didn't know the name?!

Given that you both got your clones from the same source, I think it is likely the same cultivar (my humble opinion) Thumbs up

But look at Novak on Horst site - not these I think. They might be Novak ll Shrug!

Lynn - or Patty, I am unable to locate the database entry for Novak II either here or on sempervivum liste. How do I search for it??

Sempervivum-Liste doesn't have 'Novak ll' listed. And we don't have 'Novak ll' in the ATP database.
One of the problems is that we can't find any photos of this one during the months of March & April. I hate to make a decision just yet. I sent a message to Trixi (Zaubergarten) to see if she will take a new photo of hers so we have something to compare to.

Now I'm curious, where did they both come from? I saw the one says hybridized by Andre Smits in 1996 but what about the other one?
I like trying to figure all of this out, I've always liked problem solving!
Thanks again Lynn for all you do! I tip my hat to you.

Yes, they do. The top right photo is from Fernwood. I'll see if they have more.
