I loved this second part! Very interesting information. My minor is in plant pathology and I have had a couple classes that have talked about TMV. A tomato CAN get TMV from someone smoking around them however it is rare. TMV is in most tobacco products including cigarettes, cigars, and chewing tobacco. If you are in contact with any amount of tobacco you have a chance you have TMV on your hands. Once it is on your hands all you have to do is touch or even brush your hand on a tomato leaf and that creates enough of an injury to let the TMV enter the tomato. This is not just for tomatoes TMV effects multiple plants. This is why in greenhouses they often make you wash your hands after smoking, and you have to smoke outside.
Great podcast!!
