I love the or/as lilies pictured and have begun to collect again. I potted several late fall and will give them a home in the fall this year.

Another plant added to my expanding collection of flowering shrubs is Camellia. Don't think I've shared these pics on here.. I have many other colors, but here's what I instantly found.

Smart shipping 101:
I've added around 20 pots total and have been dividing and repotting. I'm a bargain hunter, so the best thing for me is to wait till end of season to purchase from the big vendors(Lowes). They sell em for $10.99 in the spring for 1 gal pots of usually 2 to 3 rooted branches. I wait till now and purchase them for $2.50 using our family's(mother's) military discount. Many will be sold for less than big vendor but at a profitable margin. In the end this is partially how I support my iris addiction.

I grow some tetraploid reblooming daylilies. I really like and grow an assortment of oriental and asiatic lilies. And the plan for this spring is to plant a batch of dwarf winterberry bushes to supply some color when the snow is on the ground.

Such a cute dog, and the flowers are nice too. Smiling

Gabe, do you know the name of that one with Royal in the photo? It's a fairly common one. I have it, but don't know which cultivar it is. Also, It looks like you made out like a bandit, if those are the prices paid on the potted ones, as noted on the label. I love a good bargain. nodding

Don't quote me. Just like irises there's several that look like this possibly. I saw this one that looked like it, so I took a pic of the tag.

Lots of other bulbs too of course, but I shouldn't forget the Corydalis...

I love your pictures of Corydalis. I am looking for ideas for a new shade bed in zone 7b-8a. I need it to be deer and rabbit proof as well. I'll keep these in mind.

Oh my. I grow a lot of different plants. In terms of sheer numbers, I probably have more crocus than anything else, followed by daffodils, tulips, irises, daylilies, roses (although the climate here is horrible for roses), hydrangeas, hostas, camellias, and a lot of natives. I live in the foothills of the Smokies. I can see the mountains from my windows. As a fair portion of my land is forest, mostly deciduous, I have lots of different trees (they grow themselves without any help from me). The forest here is teaming with native plants, so many that it would probably take a book for me to list everything.

And peonies ... how could I forget them.
And hellebores ...

Deer and rabbit proof shade garden?

Hmmm...daffodils, creeping thyme. Actually the most deer-resistant plants I have are in mostly sun.

Anyone have any ideas? Maybe you could post this question on the general gardening forum.

I just remembered that they don't like certain ferns. Western Shield Fern for one. There are probably more. Is this full shade or part sun?

Rabbits eat some of the things deer don't.. We had a rabbit explosion for a couple of years until the fox moved in... or maybe the bobcat or mountain lion.. I had to put all my roses and even some salvias in cages.. I really hated them. I'm fenced for deer, but the rabbits got through the wire..
I don't have a lot of shade, but they left alone the Calla lilies, vinca, Iris (pacific coast & japonica are in shade).. I think they mostly left the heucheras alone.. Hydrangeas (but close to the house), campanulas, digitalis... Good luck Bea!

Bea,

Hellebores are good for shade. Everything leaves them alone. Aconite is beautiful but all parts of it are toxic, even deadly.

We have some peonies (the pinks in front of the house were brought from my childhood home), daffodils in from of the stone wall along the road) a few daylilies. Lillies of the valley. We are a very heavy wooded lot. I gave up on lilies because of the nasty red lily beetle. I wood rather put energy into irises.
