I am going to give this a try. What fun to see what will come from the seeds. Maybe we can have a separate Forum for seedlings?
Jacki already has a bunch that will be maturing this coming spring. Lovey dubby

Lynn, I put mine into a paper bag so they have a chance to really dry - however, although I've collected seed from many other kinds of plants, this will be a first for Semps and Jovis - a learning experience for all concerned!

Interestingly, the seed grown Semps didn't start showing any differences in colour until they had almost filled their 2" pots, but the Jovibarba small rosette mix and heuffelii are colouring up well. I guess it's more a function of cooler nights and shorter day length than actual maturity of the plant.

This will be such a fun experiment. I will try to keep a photo log of the process.

My photo log is very haphazard - I've started saving the different clumps of pics under the date, which helps.

Dates are so important. I have started labeling each photo with the name and date so I know what it looks like at a particular time of year. I just started doing that last fall. Sure made things easier. Thumbs up
The digital camera really helps because if I forget to date the photo there is still an imbedded date. Whistling

Yes, good point, and it also tells you which camera, and the file type and size. You're talking about the mouseover info, right?

Yes, I love it. But I also name and date photos when I transfer from camera to computer, that way I can see all of them at once with dates & names.

I never seem to be that organized! I do save them in groups, or with the date, so I can go back and find them to edit them. I also do what you described, take a pic of the tag, then the plant so you can id them.

What dainty flowers! Are all heuffelii flowers either white or yellow? None of mine have bloomed yet.

Chris, I'm offering an opinion here, but I think that you will find that unless they are a hybrid, you will see yellow or pale yellow flowers (all the way to white). We also need to be careful to define what we are talking about when we say "flower color" as you sometimes need to distinguish between the petals and the sepals. So I think the petals of heuffelii flowers are typically yellow or pale yellow. There are hybrids between sempervivum and J. heuffelii, some commonly known as Sempervivum types, which could incorporate a different flower color.

A major thing is that heuffelii flowers, like the rest of the Jovibarba, have fewer petals than Sempervivum, which makes the flowers distinctive and helps to ID the jovis.

I did a search on the internet to see if I could find a mention of other colors for heuffelii flowers and could not locate any. Personally, I'd love to see a bright orange flowering variety as I think that would be possible down the road and quite nice.

I've had at least a dozen different named types flower for me and none have had any other colors so far.

Great explanation twit. Now I have a better understanding on this topic.
Wow, I would be beside myself with excitement if I ever found one that had orange flowers.
