My youngest daughter was very attached to a maple tree that she grew from a seed and planted in backyard. But that tree took off and shaded my perennial garden just when the garden was maturing at five years. So now that she is studying in London a few months I warned her it had to come down. I hated to but had it cut down a few weeks ago, she will feel so bad when she gets home next month. I feel bad too, took a seed from the tree before it got taken away and have it on a pot growing for her to maybe lessen the shock when she sees what we did. replaced it with a ninebark that's supposed to stay under 6 feet. never grew ninebark before, the one I have is Amber Jubilee, Physocarpus.
