Taking the idea from the other regional forums, I thought we might like to start a monthly thread for photos of our gardens and the seasonal blooms, fruit, leaves, etc.

Since spring is a very busy time of year for gardeners this will, hopefully, give members a place to post their lovely photos even if they don't have the time or desire to start a new thread.

So, please post photos of your April garden wonders so we can "Oooo & Ahhh" and discuss all of the beautiful plants in your garden!

Clematis - Sugar Candy

I went around my garden after the rain last night taking a few photos:
First Glad blooms of the year, so naturally the rain and wind broke it into.

My Red Hot Poker is lighting up some now.

This is my first Canna Lily bloom, also beaten down by the weather last night.

This daylily, 'Filled With Joy' amazingly seemed unaffected by the weather.

Even this rather frail looking 'Hot Wheels' stood up well.

The Hostas are progressing right along, most showing every few days now.



One thing that is not a plus when gardening in the Southeast is daylily rust.

The Roses are having a good year for a change.

Beautiful Rosie and as much as I love all the blooms, the rocks are awesome!

I grew them myself!! Any type of exposure. No winter dieback. No special water needs. No pruning. They self- PROPAGATE. Multi- colors..the speckled ones are nice -- interesting veins. The roots are no problem but the rocks are VERY difficult to transplant. There can be pest issues..snakes..frogs...lizards...turtles...all seem to find their crevices interesting. Cooper -the pooch next door, waters them for me whe we are away from the property....but I don't pay him anything.

So many beautiful plants in everyone's gardens! I'm still neglecting my garden and hoping for the best. These are some of the plants blooming now without my help, although I don't think they will be as forgiving as those pretty rocks.

All the flowers are beautiful --that photo of the Lady Banks is great. I am so envious of the geum...I cannot get those to survive. I keep reading how easy care they are --- not for me!

I have never seen a white Lady Banks. It's gorgeous Alana! Rosie I love your home grown rocks. Sure wish they grew here.

And I forgot to ask the forces that be, what came over me to stick a butterfly bush cutting in the middle of a patch of Amaryllis? (Yes, that's what you're seeing in that pic.) The best I can come up with is that I was thinking, "I need to move some of these Amaryllis from Mom's house to my house now that I have somewhere to put them... and why not take along a little BB while I'm at it?" Or, "When the Amaryllis go dormant, the BB will just be getting started?" I really don't know. I propagate so impulsively, I "find" plants in weird places often & have to ask myself, "Was I landscaping or just starting something there temporarily?" Sometimes I know, sometimes the fleeting past rationale is just not apparent.

That is a definite, well -recognized, long-standing, planting strategy called " I don't need to write this down..lI will remember I put it there"
