Can anyone tell me why my Apple Blossom Amaryllis has such a pale color? It is very lovely, but all the photos I have ever see show the blush color to be a much darker pink/red. I am wondering if temperature or soil conditions could make the blush coloring much lighter?

Hi cwhitt, Welcome!

Your Amaryllis (Hippeastrum 'Apple Blossom') is very pretty. I don't know why the colors sometimes fade but I have 'Aphrodite' that seems to have reverted to almost solid white blooms.

What it originally looked like ..................... what it looked like this week:

Wow. Same thing that is happening to my Apple Blossom. That is interesting. I will need to pay more attention to my soil, light and air temperature next year when I force it to bloom again. I do think it was in a warmer room this time, and I think the soil was a bit different than before.
