The days of 'Mack the Knife' may be limited in my garden. It is a small hosta (15"w x 5"h) and it's a hybrid of 'Galaxy' x 'Hadspen Heron'. The official description is: beautiful dark green leaves are framed with uneven gold margins with hints of orange which fades late in the season. Unfortunately, I've never seen "hints of orange" in mine.
I've had it since 2004 but decided the place where I had it was too dark and dry; so a few years ago I moved it to the east side of my house. At first it seemed to do better, but for the last couple of years the margins of the leaves have been in tatters. I'm not sure whether this plant is prone to problems or if I've not yet found the right spot for it. At any rate, we'll see how it does this summer and if it doesn't improve, I'll likely divide it for plant sales since I'm running out of space for hostas.
Please feel free to share your pictures of this hosta.
