If anyone has some extra of Supreme Sultan plz let me know. After seeing a huge clump at Wild Iris Rows, that is on my wish list!

I have a few more out today and now I left my camera at Mom's Angry

Now you all have me thinking...

Maybe I could check with some local FFA or 4-H organizations. Maybe they would like to pot-up some iris and daylilies to sell. That could work...they could do the work, learn, and earn. Something to think about...

I love it when great minds come together Group hug

@cbelt1

Our show is open from 1 until 5 at 1062 E 2100 South. Take I15 to I80 at around 22-4th South. Watch the signs. If you are going south, you will stay on the right side of the highway and curve around. If going north stay to the right also and it curves again. You can get off of I80 at 13th East which is the third exit. State Street exit is just after you get on I80. You will be exiting on the left, then move into right lane (there are at least two blocks before you get there) and at 2100 South turn right. You will be passing Sugarhouse Park. The Garden Center is on the East end of the park. There is a small parking lot there, but unfortunately there always seems to be a race there the same day as our show. If there is no parking available there, proceed further up 21st South to the High School on the corner. They have a huge parking lot.

For the sale, take a friend with you. Not only get nice plants, but meet a log of iris people.

Celia - I agree with you about Swept Off My Feet. Schreiner's went through a plicata phase in bonuses. I am not crazy about white and purple plicatas anyway, but Swept Off My Feet and their other one, Girly Girl just are sorta boring to me. I promised John Girly Girl and I think Swept will also be leaving, along with Girl Trouble (what is with naming all these plicatas about girl things?). I think I will keep Petticoat Shuffle as it is more unique in form and has only the rims with plicata stitching.

I LOVE Lullabye of Spring! Just what I am looking for!

Calif_Sue said:I may cull this one, pretty blue but not enough drama for me. Any takers?

And this one came to my garden mislabeled, a great big bloom, excellent bloom stalks and bloom placement, deserving of it's awards but too pale for my garden.

And this little historic needs a home too, it disappears in my crowded garden.

It also works well to write the name right on the rhizome!

Zencat said:The name on the leaf has helped me more than once. A neighbor's cat likes to dig and displace the tags. I leave that leaf on as long as possible. Even shriveled, I can still read it. Thumbs up Or at least make out enough to reposition the tag.

A truly spectacular display! Now that is what growing Iris is all about.

Thanks, Alan! I wish the camera caught the actual color. Cell cams don't do them justice.

After I saw a hillside planting of a noid iris at the Ross Road Iris site, I am thinking how cool it would be to have mass plantings of irises (like in the roadside ditch maybe) - if you have too many for your garden, why not try planting the extras some place like this?

https://www.facebook.com/rossr...

don't know if that will work as a link.

Irises work as erosion control in this area. They spread where they want to and do not clog the ditches and waterways. Many grow on steep hillsides. I would recommend the older hardier ones for this as they really have to go it on their own and the older ones are very good at doing just that. If you have an abundance of irises that multiply very rapidly I would recommend them for rowing up along the back fence of a country cemetery also. They can be mowed occasionally and still come back in the spring and bloom.
