I've read in a long time. and great pics too Shoe!

How exciting to see a new life start.

What sweet little babies and when they grow up, they will keep you in eggs for a long time.

I have so been looking forward to this story and mostly the photos.

THANKS Shoe! Thumbs up Thumbs up

Thanks, Folks. I'll pass your regards on to the Quercus and group!

This morning I unplugged the incubator, no more chicks to hatch. But I'm happy and so are the chicks. Hmmm, now let's see here, that little brown one looks like Charlie (even though I hope its a female), and here's one that looks kinda like Sharon, and over there is one that looks like Vic but I already have a grown hen named Vic in the coop, it even originated in Ohio, just like our Vic!

Happy Day to ya'll.

Hmmm...it just dawned on me...

when there are more than one comments thread to a blog entry others aren't aware of it unless they re-read the blog and see another comment thread has been added.

I don't think Vic knew Sharon started one and has probably only been watching this one.
Here's a link to the other:
The thread "Chicken legs" in Blog post: "The Call of Quercus" (or "In this case the eggs came before the chicks...)

I guess when Dave makes it so we can "watch a blog" it may pull up all comment threads posted, not just the one someone has started or posted in, eh?

Well gosh.
I have a chick named after me. You better take great care of her, Shoe, she's absolutely priceless and I hope she lives a long and happy life.

You sure she isn't a rooster???
Can you tell yet?
You better know for sure she's a she before she gets used to her name.
Whoever heard of a rooster called Sharon?

(Can you tell I don't know a thing about chickens?)

Heheheh, well, too soon to tell is she is a rooster or not, Sharon.

No worries though, I already have a rooster named "Nancy". And for many years, 23 to be exact, I had a gander named Alice. And he even answered to his name.

We're not picky about names around here. Besides, as I've often posed the question to others, "What mother would dare name her child 'Horseshoe'?" Rolling my eyes.

Methinks youah Mama had nothin' to do with that name, Shoe!! Heh!

Well, I'm a little queasy around chickens. So if ya don' mind, Shoe, be very sure that the one named Sharon is very gentle and cuddly. An' don't be fryin' her up either, ya heah?

Heheheh, yeh well, but my Ma calls me by that name nowadays!

As for chick Sharon, the one with your name has this thoughtful, pensive, thinking look on her face and every once in a while seems to bust out with a giggle followed by a short two-step jig, kinda like a young child skipping happily down the dirt road....

Shoe...(off to a potluck soon, celebrating our farmers market 25th year. I believe I'll be eating good today!)
