Bad news indeed Mika.

Mika, no I didn't take any hibiscus home. I bought one at Lowe's a few weeks ago and that was a major concession for me. I try to plant things beneficial to the butterflies, but I reasoned that hibiscus are in the Mallow family and many cats use things in the family so we'll see. I also have an Abutilon (same family) in the backyard and things eat it, but I never have found the culprits. Plus, the Zebra Longwings and the hummingbirds like the blooms.

That sucks about the nest. Thumbs down Nature is not always a nice place. Sometimes, I can't even watch certain animal shows because I get too depressed.

Elaine, the struggle is real! I was trying to get hummingbird pics yesterday evening and I was trying to hold still and not do the "mosquito dance". It wasn't working. The pouring buckets of sweat sure doesn't help.

Wonderful photos, Elaine - that little bird is watching you and seems to be commanding that you put something tasty in the feeder for it. The last pic is especially cute - 'Hey, can't you see me here, waiting? How much more do I have to do to get my point across?' Lovey dubby

I know, she was putting me on a huge guilt trip. I bought 20lb of seed and filled up everything except that cake feeder. Need to go to another store for a new seed cake. There is loose seed in the dish under where she's sitting though.

She certainly seems to regard you as her supplier! You could probably get her to eat out of your hand - the birds and squirrels in some of the London parks do that, because the city residents are so happy to have contact with wildlife.

John (DH) and I were sitting in the living-room of our London house some weeks ago and out of the window we saw a pheasant just walking up the street - this is in W1, the very heart of the city. I have never seen a pheasant in any urban area. I asked J to get a photo on his mobile (he has a better one than me!) because I wanted to post it here, but the pheasant had by then turned a corner and disappeared... It's wonderful how birds adapt to humans!

At least the ospreys in Dunkeld, Scotland, seem to be doing well - I just watched both parents feeding the three chicks. Heart-warming!

It's so sad about the Tits Mika. Sad Sad Crying

I'm still enjoying the Osprey cam.

Here's a Bald Eagle cam. 2 chicks growing FAST! The ads that pop on are a bit annoying but this has great resolution in the video. Right now they are feeding on some fish.

I hope your letter carrier isn't being attacked! (My Dad is a retired letter carrier. I'll have to ask him about bird attacks.) Hilarious!

I have a pair nesting in my jap. honeysuckle I think , haven't seen the nest but they keep going in there together. And a couple days before I saw them do that , one of them landed on the roof right above the back door while i was on the deck and started squawking at me , I read it the riot act and have not heard another peep out of them but mom said one did dive bomb her on the deck the very next day. I thought both encounters were very unusual behavior at the time , but looking back now makes a lot more sense.

They have bigger problems then us though , I've spotted a red fox a couple times since mrs bluebird went missing and think it has left a bone out front , I threw it away when I figure out what it was. And something tried to bury some old rawhide in one of my flower beds twice, also thrown away and sprayed some perfume around my bed to discourage it , but still saw a very fast and light footed shadowy blur fly around the corner on the sidewalk early yesterday morning before sun up when I went to get the paper. I am fairly positive it was the fox.

On a happier note I did also see our first hummingbird of the season briefly this evening while I was potting up some plants on the patio.

Cute little mocking bird! I'm wondering if we have one in the area. The other day I was on the porch taking pictures and some birdie was mimicking rapid camera clicking sounds back to me. Hilarious!

Mellie, the mail box is out by the road but I hope we don't have anymore door deliveries till they are out on their own, They have actually wacked my head before, Hilarious!

Kurt, if they are raising a ruckus, more than like their are eggs or babies. I haven't seen a fox in a while but there are resident roadrunners that hang on the block and spend a lot of time in our yard and I haven't seen any baby toads, frogs or lizards. We are usually full of them

Thanks Marie, I bet you do, such talented lil birds. Years ago, we had the sweetest cockatiel for many many years till he passed. There was a crow hanging around and Spanky started mocking him and outside a mockbird was doing it. I was so tired of hearing a crow cawing, Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing
I still appreciated their talent Smiling

I'm glad you're enjoying it Mika. I had a hard time finding any *real* info. on these eaglets in this nest this year. This is the best I found:
http://www.raptorresource.org/...
Look over on the right side of the page & it tells you when the eggs hatched this year. There is a ton of videos if you scroll down far enough. Neat site but it seems like they could use some organization. Not like NGA which is so easy to navigate.
