Chanticleer was originally the summer home of the Rosengarten family of Philadelphia, whose pharmaceutical business eventually became Merck. It is now a beautiful, must-see, 35 acre public garden.

There are 30 public gardens to visit in the Philadelphia area. I have seen only a few of them!

Well then It may take you a while to visit them all

Are you familiar with the Garden Conservancy's Open Days program? Perhaps they operate in your area. Their mission is to preserve private gardens for public use, and to fund this mission they offer tours of private gardens for $7 per garden. You can subscribe to receive notifications of Open Days in your area. Here is their website:

I looked in a book I have entitled "1001 Gardens You Must See Before You Die" and was saddened to find no Indiana gardens listed there.
