Hi *Blush*

I know this is a potentially stupid question.
The fact is that I love Stella behaviour, and have some other diploids I wanted to cross with it. Of these I love colors but not much the rest (few blooms, height, for example). I see Stella has a lot of child plants but I can't check any of them in person and as often happens what I find in the database doesn't match the truth (especially in flowerin habits). Does any of you grow a Stella cross? Does it behave like it or not?
If it's a too silly question I apologize since now! Thank You!

My friend Martin Kamensky, used Stella to impart Early blooming and Rebloom. He has 9 cultivars registered with Stella as one of the parents. (7 are pod parent). Martin's descriptions are accurate for how they grew in his Michigan garden .....

Thank you Kathy, I will look for your friend's cultivars. There are 157 entries in the database with Stella as a parent, it will take me a bit!

Sabrina, go the AHS data base, and then to advanced search. Enter Kamensky inthe hybridizer spot and then scroll to the bottom and enter "Stella De Oro" in the parentage position. Hit search and they will come up.

I only pointed out his cultivars to show you that Stella does pass on those two traits. I've seen them in person, so those are one's I can speak about.

Hi,
I enjoy growing Stella do Oro too. It's a real favorite here. I read somewhere that breeding with Stella gives you a lot more Stella, which I think was a reference to the gold color being hard to get rid of.

Which two traits are you referring to? I know rebloom is the primary one, but what is the other?

That's a neat trick you showed with the database search. Thank You!

I noticed that a couple of the Kamensky plants didn't list rebloom.

James, Kathy was referring to early bloom and rebloom. I like the very long blooming time of Stella, and I like the clump it makes. Also it's a small plant and in my garden for now bigger plants won't fit well. I'dlike to have some Stella clones in many other colors, it looks yellow is dominant too so maybe new crosse will be more yellow than not.

Sabrina, you may be interested in "Little Rosy Cloud" .............. Martin recommended that one to me when I wanted to work with early rebloomers. I think it is in some of his cultivars parentage too.

It's one of the first one's to bloom in my garden, and rebloom scapes carry it into Fall. For me it is taller than what it's registered at, especially the rebloom scapes. And ......... it's not yellow. haha

Kathy, "Little Rosy Cloud" is lovely.
I'm afraid I can't have it here, in Italy!

A little daylily that always reblooms for me in my nothern garden is Little Wine Cup. It is a small plant, neat in its habits, and a heavy bloomer.

A lovely little daylily, Valerie! I have Little Show Stopper really close to Stella. The color of flowers is like Little Wine Cup but they should be double (never saw a double in two years). They go together very well but LSS it's not a rebloomer as Stella. Or at least until now, maybe this year (the third for all my plants) I'll see something new.

I can't buy all daylilies I see on here, I should look for them in another european country.
