Thread OP

I have a Bengal orange Bougainvillea and I am wondering if this is a perennial or an annual? I live in Georgia and was wondering if I need to dig this out and bring inside for the winter or if I can leave it any maybe cover it or something. Any feedback would be appreciated.

It say it is perennial but the minimum hardiness is zone 10 so it would most likely not survive outside in Georgia.

Hello and welcome to NGA!! Welcome! I live in 7b near Rome. My Pop lived in Decatur. We both brought our Bougainvillea and Mandevillas inside the garage for the winter. We cut them back 1/3 and lightly watered them over winter. They come back beautifully in the Spring but his rule was to never bring it outside until after Easter. Terri

Hi & welcome! The zone numbers given for plants indicate where they are hardy. A perennial is always a perennial, regardless of where it is taken, but if you don't live within its' hardiness zone, it can't behave perennially at your location. You can find your hardiness zone here:
http://garden.org/zipzone/

The info in the link Dave posted indicates your plant is hardy from Zones 10-11. No part of Georgia is in those zones, so you would need to protect your plant from cold winter temps (anything approaching frost.)
The golden rule: Do to others only that which you would have done to you.
