eclayne said:What's your experience with Alstroemeria hardiness?

I've run across some PPAF cvs. which are listed as z6, possibly z5 heavily mulched.

Several sellers reference cvs. by Mark Bridgen of Cornell. http://hort.cals.cornell.edu/c...

In general, most of the Alstromeria (Peruvian Lilies) are tropical, but I know of at least two (or more?) cultivars that are hardier than most - Tangerine Tango is one.
In the end, only kindness matters.

Mark Bridgen is doing his work on Long Island so his introductions should be hardy to at least z7. Zone 6 is indicated, however. Brent and Becky's, Walters and Garden Crossings are listing z5 or z6 depending on cv.

Mark Bridgen intros. I've found:
Tangerine Tango, Mauve Majesty, Sweet Laura

Other "hardy"
INCA ICEā„¢='Koice'

Ah yes - 'Sweet Laura' is the other one I've heard about. Are you getting some, Evan?

Maybe. I was hoping someone in z6 or even z5 had given one a try. There are a few micro-climates in my yard which are probably 6b (I'm right on the edge of 6a/5b), but there are too many z6 plants and only so much space. Green Grin! They should be right at home with you Sheryl.
