This is not exactly about gardening for wildlife...

At a local school they have planted a tree in the playground in memory of a young student. (That's the gardening part.)

When the children and teachers were enjoying the sunshine outside on the playground there was an announcement -
"Everyone!! Return to your classrooms immediately!!!

?

The assistant teacher leaned over and whispered..."There is a really big school mascot that came out of the pond and is walking on the playground."

?

Ah, the mascot for the school is...an alligator!
Yes, there was a real, live alligator walking on the playground. (That's the wildlife part.)

No one was in danger as the school officials acted quickly and called Trapper Jack who captured the alligator.

Wow - scary! One of the realities of living in alligator country Glad they reacted quickly and no one was hurt!

I am glad I don't live in alligator country!

But you live in bear country...alligator tastes better than bear.

Hmm. When I was in elementary school (about a hundred years ago) it was Mountain lions here. They weren't protected in those days and out school janitor shot it. I can't say I've ever heard of anyone eating them.
