Thread OP

I found this plant out in a dry desert type area near Cedar City, Utah. It has some kind of a curved cashew shaped seed or fruit green with red spots that is hard on the outside, but when opened resembles the texture of a grape on the inside. The plant itself is a small shrub with lots of small slender leaves that look almost fernlike.

I have no idea what plant that is but I'm really curious ... those seed pods are gorgeous! Hopefully someone from the SW will be along before long with an ID.

Welcome!

The pods are much like Astragalus desperatus but the leaves might not match.

Finding the correct species might be difficult, matching the pods with the leaves.

You really don't want to know how many species of Astragalus there are in Utah. Hilarious!
