Good afternoon!

I just bought a medinilla, the pink one at a supermarket for 12.99. It was very very dry and I needed to save it because it is beautiful. I am in south fla with hot and humid conditions. What advise would you give me in reference to light, water, fertilizer. I imagine I can keep it in a container with planter soil.

Thank you!

How is your medinilla doing? I recently acquired a little one myself, zone 10b. Do you have any tips?

On line says that they need protection from mid-day sun. They like high humidity! They are epiphytes so no dense soils.

I grow 3 as epiphytes in the same conditions. They are in metal baskets lined with coir liners and filled with a mix of orchid bark, petite and coconut husk (chopped). They are truly epiphytic, if you put them into regular potting soil and overwater them they will die pretty fast. If you own your own house and have a suitable tree, you can mount it in the tree like you would bromeliads or orchids and let it grow as a true epiphyte
