I grow 3 as epiphytes in the same conditions. They are in metal baskets lined with coir liners and filled with a mix of orchid bark, petite and coconut husk (chopped). They are truly epiphytic, if you put them into regular potting soil and overwater them they will die pretty fast. If you own your own house and have a suitable tree, you can mount it in the tree like you would bromeliads or orchids and let it grow as a true epiphyte
