This Crown of Thorns had a double bloom. First time I've seen this.

Interesting thing you're pointing out there Gary. I've never paid any attention to how that works. It made me do a closer inspection of my plants, which are the common red color. They typically bloom in 8 or 16 but only one (second image) does the thing your plant does, which is different from just branching.

The other blooms on this plant are singles. My red one looks kind of strange, too. Some of them look like part leaf and bloom.

My blooms are in pairs, Baja. Maybe because of the winter conditions they were in.

Could be. I'm guessing that is because of the light. My plants are on a rooftop patio and they get sun for most of the day.

The leafy color you refer to happens on one of my plants too (first picture). They tend to start out greenish or paler red, then become properly red over the course of the next few days. That process could also be sort of light-dependent, I haven't tested.

This one was on the edge of my back porch with one side in the sun most of the day. The only blooms are on the side in the sun. And they are blooming in sets of four. I repotted them and set them in a mostly sunny place. We'll see what happens.
