I have been trying to add only named selections of plants, but I couldn't resist this wonderful Hosta from my family member she gave me I know enough to divide into 10-20 large plants, she said it was given to her 2 years ago and it grows rapidly. It does not have a flower yet, but some buds are up on it now. Any help in identifying this Hosta will be appreciated, thank you, Kim

Kim that's going to be a tough one - there are hundreds and possibly thousands of varieties of Hosta. A plain green one with corded leaves might be a very old one. Breeders have been breeding for colors, size and leaf shape for years and years.

If you could post another picture when the flowers open, that will be helpful. If you possibly could put a ruler or something else in the picture for size reference, both the size of the leaves and the height of the flowers also will help narrow it down. The color of the flowers is also a hint, although chances are they will be light mauve.

Okay, I will do that, most of them have a buds on them right now but no flowers yet. I will put a ruler next to the leaves and get a picture tomorrow as well, they are quite large. My cousin said the flowers are white, but we shall see? Thank you for your direction, Kim

The leaves are 3in across and approximately 6in long using the largest leaves on the plants. The buds are about to open on the flowers. Thank you for your help. Kim
