Great minds think alike (thank you!!!)...I literally just found that site via peeking over at DOG and was window shopping their fragrant plants - awwwwww! I might just place the order in a few weeks and pick up that Mock Orange (Innocence) as well...to be continued.

Mike ~ I have Greek Oregano and it is not evergreen here. It is very vigorous and needs to be dug up as it has exceeded it's boundaries.

@Chantell Have you bought a Osmanthus delavayi ? The plant sounds interesting, fragrant flowers and deer resistant!

The web site says that it tolerates 0 degree Fahrenheit, which is a surprise to me. This plant is native to the Sichuan and Yunnan region. That's in southern China where it NEVER gets that cold. It can snow a bit in the high mountains there - think pandas rolling in snow while a lot of trees and shrubs are still green. I would describe their winters as humid and chilly (40F - 50F), but not cold. Yunnan province is subtropical like Burma. I am wondering if the temperature tolerance of this plant is actually 0 degree Celsius which is 32F. Confused

I stand corrected, Chantell. Wiki does say that this plant can tolerate -15C which is 5F. So it probably will grow in our area with some protection. I would be looking to try one if my microclimate were warmer.

we have winter blooming yellow jasmine Jasminum nudiflorum, it's stems remain green but it is considered deciduous. I think this one came from Sally.
That nut producing Asian yew is very interesting.

Darn you David, now every time I see the title of this thread, I read. Hardly Edible Evergreens.

Eric, that's how my brain sees the title every time too, sorry. Euell Gibbons is probably turning in his grave in mortification and dismay.

Yes, it was evergreen for me over the winter of 2016-2017 (first year growing it) but it did not grow until spring. Now it has taken off.

My greek oregano usually dies to the ground when the coldest weather hits (often not until Feb).
