How do you grow yours Clint? Full sun, partial sun? I know your conditions are very different from mine. And we get no summer rain starting in July and running through September.
I'll try to get a photo of mine today. I have it growing in two locations with very different conditions. I may have to move the one in full sun this spring before the hot/dry season starts. It survives but doesn't look very good.

Mine is in full sun here. It looks like they like more water than other Sedums. I've noticed it looks best lately, and it has been raining every day or two. I did water it with miracle grow though.

I think the full sun spot I have the one plant in is to lean and drains to fast, sandy loam. I did mix in some Miracle Grow potting mix and will try leaving it in full sun.
The other is in a container with first have of day sun. It has done beautiful from the very beginning.
I agree that they seem to need a bit more water than many of the other ground cover type sedum. We have had some light rain off and one the last two weeks.
I may follow your example and give the one in full sun a shot of fertilizer to help it get going. I think once it covers the ground/root zone it will do much better.

These are tough plants. I hope Wildfire grows like these!

I love that we can compare results on this sedum. It will be fun to see how they are all doing by this fall.

Clint you are right this one must love water. It rained almost every day in May. The one I ordered looked dead so I put it in the corner of the patio. After a week there was no green left. I thought that was it there was no coming back. I put it on top of the compost pile. I had to take it out and put it back in the pot.




Thank you so much Clint for offering to send me a cutting. That was very thoughtful but it looks like I have one coming back from the dead.

It is either very strong or I "Scared It Straight". Maybe he looked around and saw he was in the compost and decided he did not want to be down there with all that rotten fruit.

If we had not had so much rain the bin would have been turned. It was raining so hard and so much I did not go down to the bin to turn. It is at the back of the property about 100 ft away from the house and I did not want to walk down there in the rain.

Well, another great reason for not walking in the rain.

You are not alone, mine has been struggling all summer. I do not think it is going to make it through the winter,

After I took the pic it looked good and was growing for about a month then it started dying one leaf at a time. I took some cuttings and rotted those. Again I thought it was doing good and growing and it started to die again. I just left it alone and now I am down to one little steam with 3 leaves.

I think this was a weak plant. I will see if my local nursery gets them in next year maybe I can get a good plant to start.

Maybe I should have left it in the compost bin.

I am going to try to scare it straight again. I am going to throw it back on top of the compost heap.

Many times when a new plant comes out they try to over produce and the plant weakens. I think I got one of the weak. :b

How is your plant doing this year Greg?

Mine did not have any leaves and looked dead by the end of summer. I left it in the pot over the winter and it came back this spring. It looks like it is growing slow but it is growing.

I am still looking for one local because I love the color. I do not think this one will ever be strong enough to really grow into a nice plant.

Hi Cinta, I'm not at home currently and can't remember exactly where I planted it I'll double check when I return...i know that I haven't been impressed with it's growth and strength, maybe I'll plant in the ground and that'll help
