I swear they weren't there just a few hours ago, nor were they there yesterday!!! I was out in my stone wall garden trying to plot out what I have a few hours ago. Looked at each and every plant in that garden. Nothing.........

Just went back out there to decipher my notes and I was waiting for Dear husband to come through with the push mower (gotta make sure he gets that dang grass). Lovey dubby Lovey dubby

As I was waiting I started walking along the garden doing some weeding and low and behold just about every clump of Stella de'Oro had at least 1 or more scapes that are about 6-8 inches tall!! I think that I counted a total of 15 scapes in that garden! So I went and checked my Stellas in my other garden and there too, I found another handful of scapes!!

I am thinking that the past 3-4 days in the 80's have sparked some major growth!

I totally understand! Yesterday I checked all my plants and Oriental Silk had no scapes. This morning I check and it has multiple scapes and one is about 6" tall! It always sneaks up on me every year! I checked my records and most are putting up scapes earlier than last year. But I don't think I'll get my first bloom for a couple of weeks and last year it was June 1. But my earliest bloomer (Butterscotch Ruffles) didn't overwinter well so that explains it. The hot weather and rain is probably going to put everything in high gear so expect a lot more scapes very soon! Big Grin

I'm delighted, too! I found a scape on Summer Dawn! It'll be only my second bloom on 96 different daylilies this year! Means I might have more before the summer is over!

So yesterday, I was so wrapped up in mapping out my large stone garden and getting excited over Stella scapes, that I neglected to even look at the garden on the side of my house.............

Billy the Kid has 2 scapes and both Prickly Sensations each have 1 scape. They are all pushing up towards 12 inches tall!!

These both are supposed to be midseason bloomers, so I am quite surprised.

I have all the DLs with scapes regardless of which their blooming season should be. Between EE and M only few days passed.

I'm dripping with jealousy, JavaMom! Maybe all the massive rain you've been crushed with has helped. I'm dry here, and there are scapes on only TWO of the brand new 105 different daylilies I have planted. Very impressive! I tip my hat to you. I tip my hat to you.

Barbalee, I could send you some rain if you want, it rains everyday, and it's supposed to rain until mid-june! I have many scapes but they don't bloom yet!

Barbalee...try to water them more often and longer...they probably will give you scapes ! I don't want to get you even jealous...I told you the tiny El Desperado's scape and today I saw the Lavender Stardust that I planted on Sunday got one scape....Thanks Sabrina so you are just like we do in Texas...tons of rains everyday...am praying for lots of Texans and people in other States of USA who suffered from all the flooding and rains to be safe and praying for Sunny days ahead...

Europe is having problem with rains, luckily we rarely get serious flooding. It's not normal anyway. As the not freezing winters aren't.
And every year is enormously different from the previous. 2014 has been rainy all summer (we didn't have a real summer), 2015 starte hot and dry from spring, and now this. Confused

@JavaMom: I water deeply as soon as I'm dry an inch down, so I don't think that's it. I think it has something to do with the soil. To further amend the soil, though, I'd have to dig them all up Thumbs down
