Don't you worry @Barbalee, I think it will just take a little more time and before you know it you'll have more scapes than you can count :hurray:.
The amendment will eventually turned and you'll have a very nice soil for all your plants...

Heidi I just wanted to let you know that you soon should be getting some blooms. My earliest bloomer has started and scapes are up on about 20 cultivars. With all the rain we are getting this weekend I expect to see a lot more scapes next week. It shouldn't be too long for you now!

More and more scapes mean -- make more Deer Cocktail for me!
Last year, had lots of scapes one day [ took a pic to document ] -- next morning, the were gone ...
Very neatly bitten off by local deer ...
So, as soon as I see scapes ---- out comes the cocktail [ which also is good for aphids ]
Deer Cocktail:
water
liquid soap
hot sauce
salad oil
Don't measure anything, but make sure there is plenty of hot sauce in it. Then, go spray the scapes!
The salad oil helps keep the rain from washing the cocktail off.
These two escaped the deer this year ..

I hope plenty more escape the deer, Peggy--the "cocktail" does not sound tasty! Those two are awesome!

Thanks Elena. I am very happy for the rain. At last count, I have scapes on 21-23 different cultivars too. Seems like everytime I go out, I find something new popping! I suspect that Early Alibi (new plant not even permanently planted yet) and Billy the Kid may be my first two to actually bloom.

Tiny scapes on Return a Smile and De Colores after being planted 65 days. These were from GWild, so they're itty bitty! Woot woot!

I have tons of scales now but the only one to bloom was a week ago Moonlit Masquerade. I add about 45 new hybrids last year so i am rely excited, sometimes doubly excited because i added 3 new doubles too. Lol. I know bad joke.
So i work at a local garden and yesterday i purchased Windmaster. Dug it myself and there was not very much of it left so i took a rather small 2 fan start. It was raining so i potted it and stuck it out in the rain. After a while the poor thing was water logged so i removed the bottom of the pot and dumped water off the top. When i went out this morning it had a scape that was not there yesterday.
There simply is no substitute for natural rain water and we really needed it even if it cut my day at the farm short.

Everytime I go outside, I find more and more scapes!! So I am really watching "Billy the Kid" that I got from Maryotts last year. I think that it is going to be my first to bloom. But I am wondering if the label is correct or if it got mixed up with another plant because this scape is no where near 34 inches tall and it is only a two way branch. I will have to look at my other Maryott plants from last year and see who it could actually be.

It could also be small if it's a first year...wait and see!

That I will do. I looked at what I have planted in the bed and thought that maybe I got the Spicy Connection mixed up with it, but then realized that my Spicy Connection has a scape, which it should because it is an early/midseason plant.
