Hi, My neighbor is letting her garden go and morning glories are coming under the fence to my yard. I have tried removing them by hand but they seem to be growing faster than I can pull them. Can I use Caseron? I do have some Arbovitae growing probably about a foot from the fence.

Welcome!

Is this the ornamental morning glory or one of the weeds called morning glory? Are the roots still in her yard?

I found a label for Casoron herbicide, if this is what you want to use it may answer your questions:

Doesn't look like that herbicide is effective against any of the Ipomoeas or Convulvulus. The label doesn't mention bindweed or morning glory.
Here's a link to a website with suggestions for control of bindweed, aka Convulvulus arvensis which is commonly referred to as morning glory.

If it's bindweed, get rid of it quickly. That is one of the worst to deal with.

Absolutely. That stuff will take over flowerbeds before you know it. And if you try to just pull it and break off little pieces, it spreads from the pieces. Annual morning glories are easy to control, you can just yank them out or snip them off at the base. If the flowers are little things, about an inch across, it's probably bindweed. If the flowers are much bigger, it could well be just the annual ones sprouting from seeds.

For your sake, I hope it's not bindweed! I moved to NM in the 80's. The first thing gardeners mentioned to me was to fight the bindweed tooth and nail if I wanted a garden. I didn't believe them, but they were right. It's terrible and I swear it grows a foot a day!

It's a nightmare plant. I've been battling it for 12 years. Ugh! I got it mostly out of the grass at least.

I agree I battled it all of the 10 years I lived there. All I could do was keep it from covering my plants, but I could never get rid of it, even with multiple hits of Round Up.

Check out what the seedlings look like, too. If the neighbors aren't keeping up on it, you'll have a better chance against it for either kind of morning glory. Know your enemy, so to speak. Thumbs up

I have had bindweed but while it can be annoying have had little trouble getting rid of it.
Now getting rid of true morning glory that has gone feral is a different story.

One thing that might work is a method I used to get rid of Canadian Thistle that was spreading like wild fire.

I dug down to the root, did not pull the plant and painted it with systemic weed killer.
Within two years it was gone.

I take back everything I said about bindweed.
Removing it from mulch was easy but last fall I dug up my Irises to remove quack grass and a few clingweeds.
I roto-tilled before I replanted.

Well now I have a mass of bindweed.
Stupid me.
