I am wanting to paint a small block for our storage building. I wanted a daylily pattern of some type. I did a large Star block for our barn. Not sure which I like the best.

I made a civil war quilt. Each block was different, and had an historical event attached to it.




I believe the block next to the star block was a daylily block.:-)

I really like the one featured on the red barn. However, the purple color is a neat idea, as it is not as common of a color choice for the barn quilts I've seen. I'd love to do a barn quilt, but my old barn is about to fall down. It's been through a flood and it was hit by the front end loader of a tractor by my Papa who said that d*** barn shouldn't have been there anyway. ;) When you come visit, you will see for yourself first hand.

What a super idea! Gail Korn in NE posted a picture of a quilt block she'd done on her barn some years ago. It was a simple green and white pattern but she'd planted hostas in front of that barn and it made a totally wow look. You have many beautiful patterns to choose from, but my thoughts would be to pick something that would be recognizable and easy to see from a distance, something your visitors would immediately recognize as a quilt pattern. Thus, I like the traditional quilt patterns - the red and green on the white background was my absolute favorite! Good luck with this project.
