Grandma’s roses, great grandma’s irises, historical perennials, heirloom bulbs, vintage gardening, and plants of historical importance – these are all terms that call out to the sentimental gardener.

Very nicely written, Benny. Flowers do bring sentimentality to our lives and Memorial Day and poppies go hand in hand. May we never forget the sacrifice of those who served our country to keep us free.

I think about that sometimes as I make my way around my garden. How many people all over the world do not have the luxury of simply walking through a garden and enjoying the sights and smells it brings to one's senses.

Hi there blue23rose,

Thank you so very kindly! You are so right about poppies and Memorial Day going hand in hand. I have my Buddy Poppy on right now. Having a garden in any capacity is a tremendous blessing and I ensure I don't take any day for granted -- even in winter. :)

Take good care and many blessings to you and yours this Memorial Day.

Benny
