Looks like a columbine
Friend asks what it is but thinks it should be in Colorado for some reason

Thank You!

People try to turn back their "odometers." Not me. I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved

Well, it is the official state flower (1899) for Colorado.
Nothing that's been done can ever be changed.

There it is..... not!

One of the very basic differences with columbine species is whether or not the spurs are hooked or straight. Spurs are the pointy end of the trumpet shaped petals, and protrude out the back of the flower.

These are clearly hooked, and the spurs of the Colorado state flower (Aquilegia coerulea) are straight.

Although there are a few American hooked spur species, it is rare to find them in cultivation beyond specialty growers. As such, hooked spurs are generally associated with Eurasian species, of which there are many. In my opinion, this columbine looks like Aquilegia flabellata or a hybrid there of.
